| Some people are so deeply entrenched in their own world views that they will simply abstain form alternatives. Admitting our biases is the best way towards rational discussion. People always seem to find themselves in the intellectually dangerous position of thinking they know far more then they do. Can a theory ever be proven? A prediction of the theory may be verified, but since science works through the falsification of hypothesis, not verification of them, ultimately no theory is is ever proven. Let's say a theory is constantly verified, time and time again, but out of several million instances it fails to work a few times. What of this theory then? I guess it just means that this theory is an approximation of the true nature of reality that is only accurate given certain conditions. There are no laws of nature, only habits. |
